A laid-back Disney day

Today we slept in and then took a Friendship boat over to the Boardwalk for a late breakfast at Spoodles. We had to cajole the host to let us in since we arrived about 5 minutes after they were supposed to have stopped serving breakfast. It wasn't too hard - Disney cast members are nothing if not accommodating.

Then it was onto another Friendship to Disney's Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM) where we braved the Tower of Terror and toured memorable American films in the Great Movie Ride. We saw the Beauty and the Beast Stage show, and before we left, Rick rode Rockin' Roller Coaster while I waited in the shade.

After a short break at the BCV, we took a bus to the Animal Kingdom for evening Extra Magic Hours (where the park is open 3 hours longer than usual) and our dinner reservation at Yak and Yeti, a new restaurant that features Asian cuisine. I thought I knew where the restaurant was, but I was wrong, so we actually walked right past it and ended up doing a complete circuit of Asia before we found it very close to where we had started out. Not a good thing to have done with a bum knee. Once seated, we started with a Dim Sum appetizer, then I had crispy Mahi Mahi with stir-fried vegetables and Rick had a beef and broccoli stir-fry. The restaurant was packed, the service was excellent and we enjoyed the food a lot. After dinner we watched the 3-D movie It's Tough to Be a Bug and browsed for a while in the shops before heading back to the bus. On the way out of the park, we encountered this friendly stork - I think he was hoping for a hand-out.

My knee is holding up alright. It's swollen and stiff, but not unbearably painful. I'll have to have it checked when we get home, but I'm not going to let it spoil our plans.
