Day 2 - They Are Really into Christmas Here!

All of today's photos are here.

Today we lolled around in our room until almost lunchtime, then headed over to the the Animal Kingdom where we saw the new musical stage show, Saving Nemo. It's done with puppets similar the ones in the stage version of The Lion King. You can see the humans playing each character's part as they manipulate the giant puppets. It was very cute and cleverly done.

We had lunch at the Flame Tree Barbeque, rode the Primeval Whirl in Dinoland, and then joined the search for the Yetti on Expedition Everest. I needed something tame after all that, so we watched the Flights of Wonder wild bird show and then had a break for iced tea while waiting for the Jingle Jungle parade. After the parade we left the Animal Kingdom and drove over to Epcot.

We parked at the Boardwalk resort and stopped in to see the beautiful Christmas decorations in the lobby. They had a gingerbread room complete with a working fireplace and electric train.

By the time we got into the park, it was suppertime, so we got fish and chips from Harry Ramsden's in England and found a secluded table down by the lagoon where we ate and relaxed a while watching some ducks begging for french fries.
Mickey lights the Epcot Christmas tree every night and it's quite a ceremony, with all the characters and some Christmas music. They also light the Lights of Winter, a series of arches down the center of the walkway between Future Word and the World Showcase. The lights change color, sychronized with Christmas music. Quite lovely.

We rode a few rides in Future World: Spaceship Earth, Mission Space, and my favorite - Soarin' - that simulates a ride in a glider over various parts of California. Then we headed back to Old Key West.

We have an early start tomorrow for a behind the scenes tour about how Disney creates their holiday decorations. All of today's photos are on the Kodak Gallery site.
